The existence of Green Lantern in CW’s DC TV universe has been teased a number of times. The writers of The Flash left viewers a number of Easter eggs to discover that pointed to the character of Hal Jordan. From Barry running to Hal Jordan’s home town of Coast City in season 1 episode 19 for some pizza, to a missing pilot from Ferris Air being mentioned in Rogue Air.
Some promotional art for the upcoming fourth season of Arrow released by Executive Producer Marc Guggenheim has referenced Green Lantern in a much more blatant way. You can see the image below:
“In brightest day, in blackest night” is of course the beginning of the Green Lantern oath. Every member of the Green Lantern Corps has to say the Green Lantern oath to charge up their ring. The full oath goes as follows: “In brightest day, in blackest night. No evil shall escape my sight. Let those who worship evil’s might, beware my power. Green Lantern’s light!” I am doubtful that they will actually introduce a TV version of Green Lantern at this point, although there is to be a movie version of The Flash as well as a TV one so I suppose anything is possible. It seems like a big budget character really, although CW have achieved a lot on a small budget and there have been a lot of teases to the character in a short space of time.
Regardless of whether or not Hal Jordan will show up, Arrow season 4 is certainly shaping up nicely. It is being reported that Oliver Queen will officially take up the name, Green Arrow. Not only that concept art has shown that he will be getting a pretty slick hideout. Also, let me know in the comments who you would want to play Green Lantern in the upcoming DC shared universe movies. As well as a potential actor to play him should he show up on TV.
