Unfortunately news has surfaced today that Luke Harper has joined the long list of WWE superstars that are out of action. Last night’s Raw featured a dark main event in which The Wyatt Family faced Roman Reigns, Sami Zayn, Dean Ambrose and Dolph Ziggler. In the dark match, Harper sustained an injury to his left knee. This reportedly happened relatively early into the match and Harper was helped to the back by WWE trainers soon after.
This comes exactly a week after rising star Neville suffered a fractured left ankle in his Raw match against Chris Jericho. This is particularly unfair as he had recently found himself a spot in the Intercontinental Championship match at Wrestlemania 32. The video WWE posted on YouTube of the Newcastle native finding out about his injury is hard to watch.
It seems that injuries are an epidemic that are running rampant in WWE of late. There is a very long list of WWE superstars that are unable to perform due to legitimate injuries. On top of the up and coming wrestlers like Harper, Neville and people like Cesaro, WWE programming is also missing some of it’s biggest names. Seth Rollins was forced to drop the WWE Championship when he tore his ACL in a live event match. John Cena and Randy Orton, two of the company’s biggest names are also out of action. Orton has been plagued with an over-extending shoulder for years and Cena’s unbelievable work load has caused him to acquire a very similar ailment.
WWE need to call up the talented wrestlers they have on the NXT roster. There is a wealth of really talented people that have been down there for years. There is no excuse for this when the main roster is in such a dire situation. The insane work load coupled with the small roster is what is causing all these injuries. The amount of injuries is making more work for fewer people which of course is creating more injuries. It is a vicious cycle. There has been no word yet on how long Neville and Luke Harper will be out of action but I am sure I speak for the entire community of wrestling fans when I say that I wish all of the injured performers a speedy recovery.
UPDATE: It is now being reported that The Mix could have injured his foot or ankle at a WWE live event last night (26.3.16).
