A huge heavyweight bout has been set for the UFC Fight Night card in Brazil that will no doubt be an absolute barnstormer. The heavyweight encounter will see Roy ‘Big Country’ Nelson take on Antonio ‘Bigfoot’ Silva.
Both fighters are coming off of losses, all be it in very different circumstances. ‘Bigfoot’ lost by knockout in the first 16 seconds of his fight against a returning Stefan Struve.
Roy Nelson lost by decision to Derrick Lewis but a lot of people disputed the decision believing that it should have gone the other way. Nevertheless, both of these fighters have a good chin and heavy hands. This is is certain to be an exciting bout.
Even bigger news is that Cris Cyborg will headline the card in just her second UFC bout. Cyborg is of course a pillar of women’s MMA, a huge star in the sport and current Invicta featherweight champion. So the UFC’S signing of the knockout artist was a big acquisition.
Cyborg takes on Lina Lansberg in the 140 pound catchweight main event. This is great news for two reasons: a women’s bout is headlining once again, and Cyborg is being pushed as a big star. It isn’t often that a fighter ends up in the main event after just one fight in the company. Although, Cyborg was a big star before even setting foot in the UFC.
It was thought that the UFC would not be able to make many matches for Cyborg as they do not have a women’s featherweight division. However, it seems there are women on the roster that are willing to meet her at a catchweight.
Making the card even stronger is the appearance of former 135 pound champion Renan Barao against Philipe Nover. That fight takes place at 145 pounds.
The UFC Fight Night card in Brazil is really shaping up and will take place on September 24th. Share this article with your friends and let them know about the big fights coming their way at UFC Fight Night 95.
