It has been known for some time now that Bisping wants his first title defence to be against Dan Henderson in Manchester. The fight had been said to be in the works. With that being said, the UFC are known for teasing something but ultimately changing plans. Also, the fight game is a fickle beast and anything can change at any time.
However, it seems the championship match is on for UFC 204 which takes place October 8th in Manchester Arena. A rather odd detail is that the main event will start at approximately 5AM. This is to accommodate the American audience. I find this rather strange as it will effect ticket sales. There is a large audience of overseas viewers but they do still have to fill an arena.
Both fighters are coming off knockout victories on the same card. At UFC 199 Henderson knocked out Hector Lombard, in the main event of that card Bisping realised his dream and secured the middleweight championship.
The first time Henderson met Bisping in the octagon, he knocked out The Count in brutal fashion. The British champion has chosen to attempt to avenge that loss in his first title defence. The grudge match element should make for a seriously exciting main event.
