MMA news has been rolling in for the past couple of days and it is showing no signs of stopping. In particular, we have a couple of big fight announcements for the first ever UFC event in New York.

I have previously reported that a rumoured epic bout between Donald Cerrone and Robbie Lawler is signed. Now, former middleweight champion Chris Weidman has joined the card. He will take on a returning Yoel Romero on the MSG fight card.

Weidman’s presence on the card was all but a certainty permitting that his back injury was healed and Romero’s name was being thrown around as a potential opponent.

However, this was just talk at the rumour mill, until last night when it was revealed that the fight is in the works. Yoel Romero himself has now taken to Instagram to confirm that the bout is on.

Romero can be seen signing the papers with the caption: “#ufc205 here we go!!! #romerovsweidman #ufc185pound #soldierofgod @firstroundmgmt”.

The image has since disappeared from Romero’s Instagram, the UFC may have asked him to take it down as they did not want to announce it just yet. With that being said, this is an exciting bout between two explosive middleweights.
