MMA Fighting are reporting that Johnny ‘Bigg Rigg’ Hendricks will be facing Neil Magny at UFC 207. Personally, I find this a rather bizarre match-up as Neil Magny is a younger fighter that is currently working his way up the rankings.
Before losing a unanimous decision to Kelvin Gastellum at UFC 200, Hendricks was brutally knocked out by Stephen Thompson. The former world champion has also been struggling with weight cuts at the moment. So much so that it has been mentioned that maybe he should move up in weight.
It is true that Magny is coming off of a knockout loss to Lorenz Larkin but other than this slip up he has been looking like a beast lately. Although it was marred by poor refereeing, his knockout of Hector Lombard was very impressive.
Nevertheless, this is at least some more star power for the UFC 207 card which is already shaping up to be a big one. Previously announced fights include Ronda Rousey’s return against champion Amanda Nunes and a light heavyweight title clash between Daniel Cormier and Anthony Johnson. It is a great time to be an MMA fan!
