The feud between Alliance MMA and Team Alpha Male continues!
We haven’t witnessed the historic card in New York yet but we are already receiving news of some huge fights for UFC 207. A bantamweight title clash that has been rumored for some time is in the works for UFC 207.
Cody ‘No Love’ Garbrandt has been blazing a trail through the 135 pound division with spectacular first round knockouts. After being plagued by injuries, Cruz has made a triumphant return, winning back the title he never lost. His elusive style akin to Roy Jones Jr. has returned better than ever. With this Ali-like head movement and footwork he reclaimed the belt from TJ Dillashaw and successfully defended it against long-time rival, Urijah Faber.
Following his loss of the rubber match in a feud that stretched back some ten years, Faber mentioned his teammate as someone who could beat ‘The Dominator’. Faber’s protege called out the champion personally after knocking out Takeya Mizugaki at UFC 202. It is no surprise that this bout is now being negotiated.
With Garbrandt’s laser guided power punching and Cruz’s defensive avoidance, this should be a fascinating match-up. Both men are charismatic and eloquent outside of the octagon. Garbrandt is dressing like a star now and conducting himself well in interviews. Cruz is a fantastic analyst and is a great talker behind the desk on Fox Sports. Whichever way this one goes, the UFC have a great representative for their company.
UFC 207 is already shaping up with some serious star power. As well as this championship match Ronda Rousey returns to challenge Amanda Nunes for the women’s bantamweight title. Also, Cain Velasquez faces Fabricio Werdum in what is no doubt a title eliminator and Johnny Hendricks faces Neil Magny. It has never been a better time to be a fan of mixed martial arts.
