On the back of the May/Mac hype train came another proposed boxing versus MMA fighter match up. In a bid to find himself on the undercard of the monumental money fight, Jimi Manuwa called out David Haye.
The fight was considered a bit of a joke and just an attempt for the two to get in on the May/Mac action. However, a boxing match between the two has actually been verbally agreed upon.
The fight is tentatively planned for early 2018. Haye will of course box an opponent from his own sport before facing ‘Poster Boy’. Haye has noted that December time would be likely for his return from an achilles tendon injury.
His first fight back is rumoured to be an anticipated rematch with Tony ‘The Bomber’ Bellew. The two had a heated feud back in April which culminated in a dramatic bout in the o2 Arena. It was on this night that Haye injured his achilles tendon and was knocked out by the WBC cruiserweight champion, sidelining him.
Haye and Bellew have been in talks for a rematch, which some fans would like to see. For some time, negotiations were at a standstill, it appeared that a resolution would not be reached. Word is that talks have taken a complete U-turn recently and the sequel bout is in the works.
Haye will likely face Bellew in December and then Manuwa in the new year. Adding fuel to the rematch rumours is the fact that Bellew and Haye have both promised an announcement in the next week or so. Stay tuned to G-James-C for more on that!
