IT proved to be the big hit of last year, tapping into enduring themes that still strike a cord with audiences. Although Stephen King’s epic alternated between focussing on The Losers Club and their younger counterparts, New Line elected to release two movies.

The forthcoming sequel will jump into the future, telling the story of the now grown up Losers Club’s return to Derry. The second chapter will no doubt revel in the same success as it’s predecessor.

Excitement is already high so let’s take a look at what we know about ‘IT: Chapter Two’ so far. For starters, we have an almost complete cast.

Jessica Chastain is set to play Beverly; James Macavoy is Bill Denbrough, Jay Ryan will play Ben Hanscom and Andy Bean will play Stanley Uris. Bill Hadr steps into the shoes of Richie Tozier and James Ransome will play Eddie Kaspbrak.

No casting for Mike as of yet but if his role in the book is anything to go by, this will be a key role in chapter two.

Word is that filming begins next month. The official release date is pencilled in as September 6th 2019. Release dates are always subject to change though.

Around the time of the first film, it was noted that the sections of the story involving ‘The Turtle’ would be included. Therefore, you can expect a far more cosmic second movie.

Furthermore, the themes will be undoubtedly darker and I predict, the sequel will be a lot scarier. Rumour has it that a scene deemed too explicit and frightening for the first film will be used. This may be an indicator that the second part will be more hard hitting.

I am working my way through the second half of the novel right now. There are a lot of moments in The Losers’ return to Derry that will make for great drama on-screen.

Beverly’s return to her childhood home will be particularly effective. The producers could craft a truly unnerving and creepy scene from that material. Mostly, I just can’t wait to jump back into that world. Which scene are you most excited to see in part 2?
