Acclaimed combat sports journalist, Dave Meltzer is reporting that Brock Lesnar will appear at UFC 226. The star will allegedly appear to announce his UFC and return and challenge the winner of Miocic vs Cormier.
The headline bout of UFC 226 sees light heavyweight champion, Daniel Cormier challenge heavyweight titleholder, Stipe Miocic. The winner of this huge heavyweight championship bout would have a legit claim to greatest of all time status.
However, despite the monumental nature of the UFC 226 main event, the promotion are already looking to the future. Lesnar’s initial run in the UFC cemented his place as one of the biggest draws in the promotion’s history.
Naturally, the UFC are keen to bring Lesnar back into the fold and set up a heavyweight title clash that would sell millions of PPVs. According to Meltzer that fight would take place at UFC 232, the final card of the year.
It is worth noting that Lesnar is still not yet on the list of USADA tested fighters. A fighter leaving retirement is required to be in the testing pool for a period of six months before their return bout.
With that said, Meltzer notes that there is still time for Lesnar to re-enter the testing pool. His pencilled in return at UFC 232 would take place on the 30th of January. This means he has until the 30th of June to officially confirm that he has left retirement.
