It was revealed yesterday that Deontay Wilder has missed out on a huge unification bout. As I reported here, Wilder’s team were stalling negotiations with Anthony Joshua. As a result, the WBA gave Joshua 24 hours to reach an agreement with mandatory challenger, Alexander Povetkin.

Both sides have blamed the other for the failed negotiations, which would have seen one man secure every heavyweight belt.
In the wake of the news, Wilder has been informed of a new plan for his future clash with Joshua.

Matchroom Boxing have informed Deontay Wilder that Joshua will face him after Povetkin. The proposed unification bout would take place on April 13th 2019. The venue? Wembley Arena.

It seems we will have to wait for Joshua vs Wilder. However, Povetkin vs Joshua is a great fight too. Povetkin is a monster that recently knocked out David Price, after being rocked himself. Boxing fans cannot complain with fights like this being made.
