For those unaware, Damon Lindelof is set to helm an adaptation of Alan Moore’s ‘Watchmen’. The genre and art-form defining comic series will be adapted into a HBO TV show.

Little is known about Lindelof’s take on the iconic story. However, Deadline’s Nellie Andreeva is reporting that Jeremy Irons has been cast in a key role.

Word is that Irons will play the ‘Lord of a British manor. Those that have read the source material will be confused by this character description, there isn’t a character like that in the original story.

However, it is important to note that Lindelof is not writing a straight adaptation of the comics. He will use the comics as material and write an original take on them.

HBO could be the perfect platform for a ‘Watchmen’ adaptation. HBO is a network for mature content, political, immersive and conspiratorial shows. Game of Thrones; The Wire and Westworld to name just a few.

Lindelof is a great writer of sci-fi, fantasy and mystery. This is an exciting project for ‘Watchmen’ fans.
