Max Holloway recently appeared on the UFC Unfiltered podcast with Matt Serra and Jim Norton. This was a very enlightening interview that provided an insight into the personality of the UFC featherweight champion.

Holloway is currently promoting his anticipated title defence against Brian Ortega. The featherweight title clash will be the co-main event of UFC 226.

The main attraction of the card sees heavyweight champion, Stipe Miocic face 205 pound titilist, Daniel Cormier. Defending his belt on that card is a great boon for Holloway.

However, Holloway is already thinking about what is next. The 145 pound champion would like a shot at the 155 pound belt, possibly in Brooklyn.

Holloway reminded us that he was scheduled to fight for the lightweight title at UFC 223. Holloway was a last minute replacement to fight Khabib Nurmagomedov, after Tony Ferguson pulled out.

Holloway was pulled from the bout by the commission during his weight cut. He wants to get the crack at Khabib in November with a proper camp and enough time to make weight.

Dana White’s desire to set up a title fight between Khabib and Conor McGregor is a significant roadblock to this plan. Although, it is worth noting that Holloway was the planned challenger at one point.

Not only that, Max fought to a close decision with Conor back in 2013. They both seem to want a sequel to that bout as they have traded shots on social multiple times. We could see Max Holloway face the winner of Conor McGregor vs Khabib Nurmagomedov.
