Matchroom Boxing’s Eddie Hearn recently told Sky Sports that he plans to book Amir Khan vs Kell Brook. The two British stars are currently booked in bouts respectively.

Brook is set to face Brandon Cook on July 28th. He faces Cook on the undercard of Whyte vs Parker, which looks to be a big night for British boxing. Khan will face Samuel Vargas on September 8th.

Brook vs Khan is a fight that people have wanted to see for a while. Boxing fans have always speculated on the bout but it has never materialised. The same was true of Mayweather vs Pacquiao at one point. When the fight eventually happened they were both past their prime.

That won’t be the case in this instance though. The fight will be easier to make now that Khan and Brook are in the same stable. Eddie Hearn signed Khan to Matchroom back in January for his return to the ring.

It was an obvious move for both parties, Matchroom have become the premier boxing promoter in the UK. Also, Khan is a big star in British boxing so he was a great acquisition for them.

However Hearn did admit that he signed Khan with the intention of booking the Brook fight. Hearn has this to say regarding the potential clash:

“We’ll be looking to get that fight signed. It’s the biggest fight out there, but both have options”. Hearn continues: “Fingers crossed- December, if they can both keep winning, we’ll get there for Khan vs Brook”.

This would be a huge domestic clash if Hearn can get the fight made. Matchroom have carved out a reputation for themselves as the promotion that are giving fans what they want. Brook vs Khan would be another boon for the promotion.
