Eddie Izzard is set to write the script for ‘Six Minutes to Midnight’. The period thriller is directed by Andy Goddard, who has sat the director’s chair on episodes of ‘Downton Abbey’ and ‘Doctor Who’.

The movie is set in the build-up to Hitler’s seizure of power. A number of German girls are sent to a boarding school in an English sea side town to represent the Nazi party. One of the teachers at the school soon figures out the group’s insidious undertone.

Recent news is that Judi Dench and Jim Broadbent have been cast in significant roles, no doubt as teachers at the boarding school. There are a few familiar faces from British television including Nigel Lindsay, Kevin Eldon and Izzard himself.

A thriller about The League of German Girls is a departure from Izzard’s body of work. The stand-up is better known for irreverant comedy.

‘Six Minutes to Midnight’ is shaping up to be really high quality drama and filming is currently underway.
