Ariel Helwani reported yesterday that the UFC are looking to make Amanda Nunes vs Cris ‘Cyborg’. The planned champion vs champion superfight could be signed for December.

Specifically, the promotion are aiming for UFC 232, December 29th in Vegas. The UFC always look to close out the calender year with a bang, stacking their late December card. It follows then that they would try to book the biggest women’s title fight in history for that event.

There has been movement concerning the superfight on social media. Nunes and Justino have called each other out over Twitter for some time now but things took a more serious turn recently.

‘Cyborg’ urged Nunes to take the fight for UFC 228 in September. ‘The Lioness’ responded with a photo of a signed bout agreement. That contract though, is for the December card. It is not uncommon for multiple contracts to be at play for the same fight.

The UFC are always trying to make superfights but this bout, like Miocic vs Cormier, makes a lot of sense. From an entertainment and a purist perspective, it is the fight to make. The winner of this bout will be the first woman to hold titles in two divisions.
