Bellator president, Scott Coker is making waves in the fight game. His promotion has become a strong competitor to the UFC, holding some impressive fight cards.
Coker has acquired some big MMA stars recently and he is making the most of it. Bellator will host a huge superfight in September between welterweight champion, Rory MacDonald and middleweight champion Gegard Mousasi.
The heavyweight grand prix has also proven to be a great boon for the company, so much so that they are planning another tourney at welterweight. The first bout of the 170 pound tournament will broadcast on DAZN, Eddie Hearn’s new combat sports streaming service. The deal between Coker and Hearn was very lucrative for both parties.
However, Coker is still not satisfied. In an interview with Gareth A. Davies, Coker revealed his plan for two ambitious future events in 2019. The MMA promoter wants to hold a fight card inside the Coliseum and another on an aircraft carrier.
It seems Coker wants to pay homage to the history of combat as well as fighters, past and present. The Coliseum and an air craft carrier deck are definitely dramatic locations for an MMA event. What do you think about the idea? Let me know in the comments.
