Oleksandr Usyk became a star with his title unifiying win in the World Boxing Super Series final. The new undisputed cruiserweight champion wasted no time in calling out Tony Bellew, the biggest name in the division.

This cruiserweight title clash has all the ingredients for a humdinger. There is a narrative element but it is also a logical match-up. The casual viewer and the hardcore fans are appeased here.

Matchroom Boxing’s Eddie Hearn is set to promote the bout on British soil and he claims that talks are getting serious. Hearn told IFL TV that he is targeting November 10th for the showdown.

Bellew vs Usyk is a perfect passing of the baton. Usyk has been tapped to be a big star; Hearn is trying to sign him to a multi-fight deal with Dillian Whyte and Anthony Joshua targeted as future opponents.

Win or lose, that can happen for Usyk. If he wins he gains even more momentum, a loss is not the end of the world, he can come again.

Tony Bellew also stands to gain from this fight regardless of the outcome. A win adds to his already incredible legacy. If he loses, he went out on his shield against one of the best in the world pound-for-pound.

If the fight can be made, it is a great fight for boxing and another boon for Matchroom Boxing.
