Oscar De La Hoya’s first foray into MMA promoting will take place this November, according to a report from MMA Fighting.

The boxing legend turned promoter announced plans to host MMA shows earlier this year. The announcement came off the back of word that De La Hoya was negotiating with Tito Ortiz and Chuck Liddell.

MMA Fighting have revealed that Golden Boy Promotions submitted an application for licensing with CSAC. The document was submitted to the California State Athletic Commission in June, naming The Forum as their first stop.

The fight card in Inglewood will broadcast live on online pay-per-view, November 24th.

Liddell’s plans to re-enter the fold have brought concerns from MMA fans and industry professionals alike. Despite this, the card’s main event will see the rekindling of an old feud when Tito Ortiz faces Chuck Liddell.

Competition between promotions is good for the sport, however, retired veterans stepping back into the octagon is not. De La Hoya is potentially exploiting Liddell’s inability to let go of the adrenaline rush.
