The official weigh-ins for the Frampton vs Jackson card took place today (Friday). Saturday’s event in Windsor Park, Belfast sees Carl Frampton defend his interim featherweight title against Luke Jackson in the main event.

Although the headline bout has world championship implications, it is somewhat overshadowed by two gigantic heavyweights, namely, Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder.

Fury faces Francesco Pianeta on tomorrow’s card while WBC champion Deontay Wilder looks on from ringside. Last month, it was revealed that the former unified world champion was in talks with Wilder for a huge Vegas clash.

The news came off the back of the WBA’s ordering of Anthony Joshua to face mandatory challenger, Alexander Povetkin. This put the monumental unification fight between him and Wilder on hold. Out of frustration, Wilder instead turned his attention to ‘The Gypsy King’.

The fight previously felt like a fantasy concept, until today. Deontay Wilder crashed the weigh-ins and caused a scene, first arguing with John Fury.

Tyson and Wilder later collided, trading verbal barbs whilst surrounded by a sea of fans. It is clear that at least some of this tension is manufactured as the two were amicable before negotiations became close to finalised.

However, it is difficult to watch these videos without getting excited for the future bout. The MTK Global event tomorrow could change the world boxing landscape on Saturday night.
