Matchroom and K2 Promotions are currently negotiating an undisputed cruiserweight clash between their respective fighters. On Saturday night, Tony Bellew appeared on TalkSport to talk about the potential showdown with undisputed titilist, Oleksandr Usyk.

Bellew has flirted with the idea of retirement multiple times now. However, after his defeat of former heavyweight champion David Haye, Tony expressed an interest in a final big night.

Bellew mentioned the World Boxing Super Series victor as a potential opponent. In a lofty occasion, Usyk defeated Murat Gassiev and amazed the world with his skills. After unifying the cruiserweight division, Usyk called out Tony Bellew and the build-up begins.

Bellew told the TalkSport Fight Night team that this would indeed be his last outing. Bellew acknowledged that the fight is a risk with an enormous reward, he called the title clash: ‘the last roll of the dice’.

After the Usyk fight, even a call-out from retired pound-for-pound list topper, Andre Ward could not lure him back into the ring.

The narrative of Bellew vs Usyk becomes more interesting by the day. For Bellew, it is a chance to retire on top with another claim to greatness. He would be amongst the special few that have unified the division and had success at heavyweight.

For Usyk, it would propel his career to new heights. A win in this fight would show that he has truly arrived. Usyk would gain yet more momentum for potential clashes at heavyweight down the line.
