Earlier this week, MMA Junkie were reporting that Max Holloway vs Brian Ortega is in the works for December.

This would be a re-booking as the featherweight title fight was originally set for UFC 226. The July contest fell through when Holloway’s team became concerned about his health.

The featherweight champion was displaying symptoms conducive to a concussion. Another potential cause of his slurred speech was water poisoning brought on by the loading phase of his weight cut.

UFC Lincoln went down over the weekend and would-be title challenger, Brian Ortega was in attendance. Backstage after Justin Gaethje’s knockout win, Ortega confirmed that talks of the fight have begun again.

The promotion have indeed approached Ortega and Holloway regarding UFC 231. The December 8th card will emanate from the Scotiabank Arena in Canada.

Regarding the prospective clash, Ortega told MMA Junkie: “We’re going to give you guys the show that you deserve in December”.

Providing that Holloway is healthy, this could be one of the best featherweight title fights in a long time.
