News broke last night via Ariel Helwani that Jon Jones has been sentenced by USADA. Despite Jones’ checkered history with the doping program, he was given a lenient sentence.

The U.S Anti-Doping Association have handed Jones a retroactive 15 month suspension. The positive test came on July 28th two days before Cormier vs Jones 2 at UFC 214.

This means that Jones will be free to compete after October 28th. The reason for the light sentencing was because evidence given by Jones at the hearing led the arbitrator to believe he had not deliberately cheated. They have ruled that he may have taken a contaminated substance.

There had been whispers of Jones’ imminent return, even speculation that he would compete against Alexander Gustafsson at UFC 230. Ariel Helwani has reported from multiple sources that this is not the case.

However, Joe Rogan did allude to a secret on the last PPV broadcast regarding the MSG card’s headline bout. More on this situation as it unfolds.
