Brett Okamoto is reporting that Michael Chandler and Brent Primus are set to run it back. Sources suggest Bellator are looking to book the lightweight title rematch for December 14th.

The two last contested the 155 pound championship in June 2017. A rematch is long overdue because of the controversial fashion in which Chandler lost the belt.

Chandler suffered a nerve injury in his foot and was unable to stand properly. Despite this, he still managed to do more than his opponent. Chandler’s injury led officials to believe he had broken his ankle and the fight was stopped.

Chandler has not yet received his rematch due to Primus sustaining his own injury. This bout could be key to Bellator’s ascent. The promotion are experiencing a renaissance right now.

Chandler is one of the promotion’s biggest stars and amongst the best lightweight in the world. He has had a thrilling fight history with former UFC lightweight champion, Eddie Alvarez. The latter has recently become a free agent. Could we see a huge trilogy fight between Alvarez and Chandler?
