As reported earlier, there is a mad dash going on within the UFC to find a UFC 230 headline bout. Co-main eventers, Nate Diaz and Dustin Poirier, prematurely announced last night that they would serve as the main event, with the 165 pound belt on the line.

The UFC have since stated that the bout would not be for an inaugural super lightweight belt. The promotion are still searching for a main event for the November 3rd card.

Ariel Helwani has reported today that the UFC are considering Yoel Romero versus Alexander Gustafsson at 205 pounds. The bout could be for the interim light heavyweight title, or the undisputed belt.

Yoel Romero has discussed a move to light heavyweight given his issues with the 185 pound limit. Gustafsson was a name mentioned as potential opponent.

However, Romero pulled out of a middleweight bout against Paulo Costa which was slated for this very card. In July, he revealed that he would be out of action until January due to an injury. Gustafsson has said that he wants to welcome Jon Jones back to the octagon when he returns next year.

Furthermore, Daniel Cormier has pledged to defend both of his belts before retiring in March 2019. Is there really cause to strip the two weight champion? More on the situation as it unfolds.
