Max ‘Blessed’ Holloway will defend his featherweight world title against Brian Ortega at UFC 231. The December 8th card takes place in Toronto, Canada. MMA Junkie first reported the news and it was later confirmed by Dana White on the UFC Unfiltered podcast.

This will be the third time the promotion has tried to book the fight. Holloway was originally supposed to face Ortega at UFC 222.

Ortega ultimately faced Frankie Edgar on short notice as the champion sustained an injury. The bout was signed again for UFC 226 but Holloway pulled-out due to an undiagnosed health issue.

It is likely that the bout will go ahead this time. However, Jose Aldo has said he will stay ready should one of the combatants withdraw. Aldo wants to fight at lightweight on the card but claims he could easily make 145 the week of. Ortega-Holloway is a great fight. Fans will be clamouring to finally see it.
