Mikey Garcia has recently outlined a plan to unify the lightweight titles with Vasyl Lomachenko, before a move to welterweight. Garcia intends to challenge Errol Spence Junior for his IBF title, becoming a five weight champion.

However, according to Dan Rafael, Garcia will first defend his unified 135 pound titles against Richard Commey.

Garcia holds the IBF and WBC belts, The International Boxing Federation were poised to enforce Commey as mandatory challenger. The purse bid was called off though as the two camps struck a deal.
