A welterweight war is on the cards at UFC 241. ESPN have reported that Nate Diaz vs Anthony Pettis is verbally agreed at 170 pounds.

Dana White has since confirmed in a post on Facebook that Diaz vs Pettis will indeed serve as the co-main to Cormier vs Miocic 2, the card takes place at the Honda Center in Anaheim on August 17.

Diaz makes his long awaited return to the octagon. It seems he has grown impatient waiting out on the sidelines for a money fight.

“Showtime” Pettis has recently made a move to welterweight with stunning success. Pettis has challenged for a featherweight title and held a world title at 155 but he has seen mixed success lately.

He shocked the world when he moved to 170 pounds in March, knocking out Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson with a superman punch. It was Pettis’ first outing as a welterweight and he defeated a two time world title challenger and top contender at the weight.

Diaz will look to re-enter that fray, bringing his own brand of drama. Diaz is a tough opponent for anyone, he has superb boxing and a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu with a granite jaw and relentless cardio to match. This should be a thriller.

In related news, the rumored showdown between Tony Ferguson and “Cowboy” Donald Cerrone has been confirmed by the UFC for the Chicago card on June 8.
