CHAMPION of four divisions, Mikey Garcia is said to be in talks with Matchroom Boxing boss Eddie Hearn for a multi-fight DAZN deal. The news was first reported by Mike Coppinger of The Athletic Boxing.

Garcia would be another big acquisition for the DAZN streaming giant. DAZN is the brainchild of Hearn, an extension of his boxing empire which consists of Matchroom Sport and Sky Sports Boxing.

The platform has cinched some of the biggest stars in the sport, the likes of Anthony Joshua; Canelo Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin have all signed deals with DAZN.

Canelo and Golovkin are on a co-promotional deal with DAZN, allowing them to stay with Golden Boy and GGG Promotions respectively. Garcia on the other hand, is in “advanced talks” to sign an exclusive deal.

Garcia made an attempt to become a five weight world champion in March when he challenged Errol Spence Jr. for the IBF welterweight championship. Garcia was comprehensively beaten over 12 rounds but is nevertheless considered a pound-for-pound topper and still has ambitions at 147 pounds.

The acquisition could pay dividends for Hearn-DAZN-Matchroom as Garcia has been linked with Lomachenko, Manny Pacquiao and Luke Campbell.

The Pacquiao fight is not outside the realm of reality as the WBA ‘regular’ champion is set to face super world champion Keith Thurman tomorrow night. He looks in incredible shape and has allegedly signed a contract to face Amir Khan in the future.
