LEGENDS of mixed martial arts are set to square-off – Fedor Emelianenko vs Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson is in the works for a Bellator show on December 29.

Acclaimed author and combat sports reporter Josh Gross has revealed that the bout will headline a show in Japan.

Emelianenko forged his legacy as ‘The Last Emperor’ in Japan, fighting some of MMA’s biggest names in Pride at the country’s biggest stadiums.

Fedor battled fellow legend Antonio Nogeuira at the Yokohama Arena at Pride 25 Body Blow in 2003. He submitted Kevin Randleman at the Super Saitama Arena in 2001.

And the bout against Rampage this December will be billed as his last in Japan.

Jackson has himself fought numerous times in Japan under the Pride banner.

Rampage stepped into the Pride ring in the Tokyo Dome, November 2001 and against Randleman at the Yokohama Arena in 2003.

Bellator’s heavyweight division is ruled by champion Ryan Bader who also holds the light heavyweight world title.

Bader and Jackson were involved in an altercation after the no contest end to the champion’s title defence versus Chieck Kongo. Should Jackson win in Japan against Fedor, there could be some needle to a fight with Bader.
