UFC boss Dana White has outlined plans for his long awaited boxing promotion.
White has long flirted with the idea of making moves in boxing, under the Zuffa Boxing banner. And it seems he is ready to make the leap.
In an interview on SiriusXM’s Fight Nation, Dana White stated that he wants to work with Eddie Hearn and PBC’s Al Haymon.
White said: “I’ve met with literally everybody in the sport, minus Arum minus De La Hoya, to my shock everybody is willing to work together, everybody is interested”.
The UFC head honcho intends to use the same business model for his fledgling boxing promotion as his top tier MMA company.
White will ignore boxing’s world titles from the WBC, WBA, IBF and WBO.
“What I know is, the system and the model is broken and it needs to be fixed and it needs to be flipped to where you actually start investing money in the sport.”
White said that the top four heavyweights in the world should be fighting eachother and he wants to make those big fights happen.
And he would have one belt for each division. White said: “The UFC belt is sanctioned by nobody. You know why the belt’s credible? Because the best keep fighting the best.”
“People want to see the best fight the best…I’ve definitely proven that over the last 20 years.”
White is now making serious moves: “You’ll be watching on Fight Pass and we’ll have a television deal too.”
